Great Travel Quote

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.” – Miriam Beard

I will admit, I am a total travel-quote geek. Countless times however, quotes have popped into my mind and helped me to make difficult decisions or to stay on target. The quotes that really seem to prove useful are the ones from Sun Tzu’s Art of War and Lao Tzu’s Tao te Ching.

I found the quote above on another Boots-n-all member’s webpage, and it stuck with me. To me, the quote points out the difference between people who take a 10-day holiday to escape, and those who really live to travel.

I have told so many people once I got home that it feels like I am STILL traveling, I am seeing things with new eyeballs. They usually look at me like I spent too much time sipping the “magic shakes” on Koh Phan-gan. Regardless, once you warp your reference points and expand your paradigms via living with different cultures, the mundane life you left back at home suddenly becomes new and interesting again.

  1. Greg –

glad to see you used the quote 😉 I’m kind of a quote dork, too. I used to have the door of inspiration. I put some travel quotes on the door next to me in the office and that would keep me motivated to continue working haha. But I had to take those down bc we’re out of our apartment on the 18th for NY. wooo.
