So close…

I am so close to getting back on the road again that I can almost smell the pollution from tuk-tuks and the frying oil in woks from the street vendors.

The rest of 2007 for me:

Where: Alaska
When: 30-July-07
Why: Fishing, fishing, hunting grizzly bears with my new camera, and did I mention fishing? :)

Where: England
When: 15-Aug-07
Why: Stonehenge, London, fish-n-chips, good craic, and its FREE (thanks to Skymiles and Lyndsey’s family).

Where: China
When: 23-Aug-07
Why: It has been my lifelong dream to study Wushu and Kung Fu in China. I am going to live at a school in the Henan province where Shaolin originated. Yes, there will be Shaolin monks. No, I will not grab one on the street and say “damn you…you killed my master”.

Where: Tibet, Nepal, India.
I have not made up my mind yet. It is a toss-up between freezing at the bottom of Mt. Everest or diving and camping in the India-owned Andaman islands. Either way, I will be a very happy man.

It is going to be a busy Fall and Winter…..about time! I will have loads to write about and will inundate you with pictures until your eyes bleed.

Woohoo! Travel plans make the world go ’round! :)

  • I’d highly recommend the trip to Everest Base Camp. I went right around the time of the Tibetan New Year in February and it was unbelievable! But I’ve also heard great things about Nepal, too. If you’ve got the time, I’d recommend going to Lasa, then seeing EBC, then have them drop you off at the Nepal border (nobody from Nepal crosses it). You can arrange for a vehicle to pick you up there and take you to Khatmandu. Find a guy named Lhatse (I think that’s how you spell it) at the HI affiliate in Lasa. He’s an honest guy and speaks good English.

Just got acceptance to the Kung Fu school in Zengzhou. No specific arrival date, but I know my S. Korean visa is up on August 17th. Probably be in China before that. You, Amanda, and I are gonna make sure there are a ton of adventures to share with our loyal readers, right?
