National Geographic Contest
Time to charge up the video camera.
I received an email from the folks at National Geographic about a new contest and want to share it with all of my readers. 1 minute of video = free expedition anywhere that you want to go. Not bad!
Just for fun, let’s say you won….where would you tell them that you wanted to go?
I had to grind some gears to come up with it – but I think I would honestly ask to go to New Zealand. NZ is a dream destination for me because the adventure potential is enormous, but the budget required would probably always make me end up somewhere cheaper and more third world. At this rate, by time I save enough cash to get there I will be to old to go Zorbing!
The details for the contest are below!
National Geographic Channel (NGC) kicked off its first annual EXPEDITION WEEK with a contest in partnership with Land Rover to send one lucky winner on an expedition of a lifetime. Participants can submit a short one-minute video online featuring themselves with an explanation of their dream expedition, why they want to go and the obstacles that have prevented them from going. To enter the contest, please complete the entry form at our contest Web site (http://www.natgeotv.com/landrover) along with the video submission. Here are some guidelines for the videos:
- Video should be no longer than one minute in length.
- Uploaded video file must be in either .mpg or Quicktime (.mov) format.
- Uploaded video file should be no greater than 20MB in size.
- If you already have a video on another site (like MySpace, YouTube or similar), you may submit a link to the video rather than rather than uploading it, at your discretion.
- In your video, be sure to tell us (1.) where in the world you’d like to go (2.) Why you haven’t gone yet (3.) and why Land Rover and National Geographic should pick you as their Expedition winner. Plus, anything else you’d like us to know!

Hey–has anybody been watching the “expedition week” shows? I am doing my required “night shift” time, so I have been trying to take a quick dinner break during these shows and some of them are pretty cool!
The one with the Great Pyramid was really cool and featured some nice graphic reconstruction of the pyramids, plus an idea on how they were built. It makes me want to go there even more!
what about those of us who cannot afford a video camera? How are we supposed to enter the contest?
