Alaska here I come (again)!

Finally…a serious trip on the radar!

I just finished booking tickets for Alaska this July. I was there for 3 weeks last July and all I can say is WOW….what a place. I will never forget the people, the landscapes, and the overall vibe of the place. This time around I am taking my new camera, hopefully equip with a seriously overpriced lens so I can get some good wildlife pics.

I am also taking my dad this time! It has been his lifelong dream to fish in Alaska, so we decided that life waits on no one and that it was now or never.

Much of this trip will be a repeat of last year’s adventure…a float fishing trip for trout, followed by camping at the Russian River, but then the next day we will have a bush pilot fly us in one of the little float planes to a remote lake for some fishing. Instead of driving south to Homer this time, we are going to drive 5 hours north to Denali to see Mt. McKinley, which is the tallest mountain in the world. Mt. Everest gets credit for being the highest…but only because it starts off higher above sea level. I will also leave my dad in anchorage for an afternoon and head back to the Chugach for another solo climb…hopefully this one won’t be as scary as the last one.

…..and no matter what it takes….I WILL see a bear this time. Even if I have to strap fish all over my body and go running through the woods at night.

Only 88 days before we leave…there should be time for a scuba/beach holiday somewhere before going. Hmmmmm… :)
