In Tibet, where snow and rough terrain would many times make the road impossible to find or navigate, travelers would leave each other with the blessing of “May there be a road”.
As I sit here at home in front of a fire, Christmas tree, and surrounded by family and friends, I can’t help but be grateful. There is no doubt that I have truly been blessed in life. Since I began vagabonding in Jan 2006, my life has changed in ways that I never expected.
I just want to wish a Merry Christmas to my friends that are scattered around the world. A world which I have spent the last 2 years doing my best to better understand, and to make just a little smaller. I am proud to say that I have met some of the finest people in the field, people that I would do anything for.
Some of these travelers are at home with their families, but others find themselves alone in exotic places that are foreign, cold, and maybe dangerous. Or hopefully they are dancing barefoot in the sand on some tiny island. If you are, dance enough for the two of us.
No matter where you guys are tonight, I am thinking about you. Be safe, and may there be a road.
